Working in Second Life

We are in the process of setting up a project using the online virtual world Second Life. You can find out more about Second Life here:

http://blog.secondlife.com/

The key idea is to create a space where young people can develop a wide range of life skills. I will post some more on this as the project develops.

In the team we see this as an exciting opportunity to understand how virtual worlds like Second Life can enhance the real world.

Inter-Life: interoperability and transition

Posted in key ideas, research, vic's posts by Vic

Further to my previous post of 28th June, we have now submitted our outline proposal to the UK funding councils EPSRC and ESRC. Inter-Life is a proposal to develop a virtual and mobile place where young people and adults can explore their experiences of transition from one stage of life to another (hence ‘Inter-Life’). It’s also a place to learn life skills, and these ‘transition skills’ will be the main learning outcome of working and engaging in Inter-Life. If you have an interest in using technology to enhance learning in this way, then please do get in touch, and tell us what you are doing.
